Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my "100km hike for Chlo-bo" JustGiving page!

As the title suggests, this July I'll be taking on a 100km hiking challenge in Yorkshire (a self-funded place in the Action Challenge UK Series) - eek!

I'll be setting off on Saturday morning and carrying on until I reach the finish line at 100km, which will likely be some point on Sunday morning. I'll be doing it on behalf of an amazing and forever friend, Chlo-bo, who we said goodbye to this year after she fought an incredibly tough cancer battle.

All money raised will go to Wilderness Foundation UK, a charity who help to improve the health and mental wellbeing of young people and adults in the UK, through quality, immersive outdoor  experiences that allow individuals to build a connection with themselves and nature.

I chose to raise money for Wilderness Foundation UK, as Chlo-bo, or Baby Giraffe as she was also known, was passionate about the outdoors. If there was a mountain bike trail to try, a rock climbing route to conquer, or a lake to kayak across, Chloë would be the first to rise to the challenge (and she would always be sure to enthuse all around her to step forward and have a go too).  As her working life saw her deliver countless outdoor education experiences to young people and adults and, during lockdown, when outdoor centres were closed, she worked as a healthcare assistant at a mental health hospital, it seemed particularly fitting to (hopefully) raise some money in Chloë's memory for a charity whose core values centre around improving mental health and wellbeing through delivering quality experiences in the outdoors.

I will be taking on this 100km hike in July, as it would have been Chloë's 28th birthday, and what better way to pay tribute to such an outdoor-loving friend than to immerse myself into the outdoors for a beast of an outdoor challenge!

Any donations will be hugely appreciated, and thanks for reading!

P.s. "Baby Giraffe Forever!"
