Story
June is Pride Month which not only makes it a month to celebrate queer folk but to raise awareness, educate to spread acceptance, and help those who need help. And this is exactly why I've chosen to take this opportunity to raise money to support LGBTQ+ youth aged 16-25 in danger of homelessness.
I've been lucky as a queer adult to have my loved ones accept who I am. However, I have witnessed first-hand how this is not always the case. Coming out, or being outed as LGBTQ+ can lead to young people being made homeless. This is the reality for 77% of the young people akt supports.
Sometimes families are unaccepting and abusive. akt exists to support these young people and can offer safety and hope in an open and accepting environment. They help with housing and also help them celebrate their identity.
It would mean the world to me if you helped me help akt help young people in danger for simply existing and being who they are.
