Thank you for taking the time to visit our page and read our story.
On 23rd July 2021 , 6 of us will each be playing 100 holes of golf throughout the day at Renfrew Golf Club, in order to raise money for The Beatson Cancer Charity.
To the non-golfers reading this, 100 holes might not sound like too much of an arduous task. We estimate based on the course yardage we will all be walking roughly 38 miles over a 15 hour period.
The Beatson have offered tremendous support to all of our families at somepoint in the past and continue to do so.
Neil and Stuart are doing this challenge due to the Beatson treating their Dad (David) over the past year and have treated their Gran in the recent past too. David is an avid golfer who has been a member at Renfrew Golf Club for 50 years.
Steven will be taking part due to his Gran receiving successful treatment from the Beatson a few years ago. Also, for friend & fellow golfer Craig Walker who sadly lost his battle with lung cancer a short time ago. Craig will be sorely missed by all his friends at the GGO.
Alan will be doing this challenge for his granda "Jimmy" who was an avid golf and a meneber of renfrew golf club for around 50 years. He went through successful treatment around 4 years ago at the beatson. But sadly passed away in March due to his cancer coming back and suffering from a stroke. All of our family appreciate the great work that the beatson do for so many.
Aidan will be taking part due to his family friend Colin Gaffney receiving successful treatment 10 years ago. He has recently taken up golf and has become a member at Renfrew Golf Club.
Bryan will be taking part due to his papa, who was an avid golfer and a Renfrew Golf Club member for over 40 years who receivied successful treatment from the Beatson a number of years ago. Also for his wifes Gran who unfortunately lost her long battle with cancer after receiving wonderful care from the Beatson. Our family appreciates the wonder treatment and the love the staff give to everyone.
We intend to ask all members of the Golf Club who have received treatment at the Beatson to come down and play/support us when we play our 100th hole of the day.
We could not be more proud to be playing to raise money for a charity that provides the care and support that they do to families across the country.
Thanks for taking the time to read our story.
Everyone who donates should feel a massive sense of pride in helping this great charity, espiecally in these tough times when donations are at an all time low.
Thank you.
Stuart, Neil, Bryan, Steven, Alan and Aidan.
