Four girls embark on a challenge to raise awareness of FGM and money for its victims... One girl and a guy remain!
On Friday 27 October 2017, Louise, Zoe, Jade and Lydia will embark on a challenge of completing 100 runs in 100 consecutive days.
The rules are simple; run at least a mile (1.6 km) each day for 100 days. The aim is to finish the challenge on Sunday 4 February when all four of us are competing in the London Winter Run. Yes, that means running on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
In order to give us that little bit more motivation to complete the challenge, we have decided to support Forward, the UK based Foundation For Women's Health Research And Development, dealing with issues such as FGM and child marriage throughout Africa.
Hopefully through this blog and through our challenge, we can raise awareness about these issues as well as all important funds for this great charity.
We are all keen runners, but have various levels of experience ranging from the shorter 5 km lovers, to seasoned half marathoners. The only thing we have in common is that none of us have ever undertaken something of this scale, that requires this dedication.
We have a series of events planned to help us all get through the challenge, and I hope you enjoy hearing about our running highs and lows as well as learning more about this very real life issue with us.
By day 74 only Lydia and Louise remained. Then Lydia suffered a knee injury and our friend Dai joined as a substitute to finish what Lydia started and keep Louise company to the end.
