Story
Update - Challenge Completed! A great challenge and as usual, tougher than I expect. Cycling at 4am and slogging up 15% gradients on the way to Hereford is no fun! But the 102 miles cycled were enjoyable and I visited Hereford, Gloucester, Cheltenham and then back to Worcester with a stop at Acorns Children's Hospice in Worcester. After a bit of lunch, and a change, I set off to walk 26.2 miles from Worcester via Norton, Wadborough, Croome, Kempsey and another stop at Acorns - who made a well done banner and tea and cake! I still had 6.2 miles to go, but got it done. Every step I remembered Milla and Jewel and thought of the children ad families Acorns supports.
Thank you for all your support and the brilliant donations!
Best wishes,
Tony

Hello,
Another fundraising challenge?! Yes, it's that time of the year again when I come up with an idea to raise funds for an amazing charity, as well as challenging myself with a new and different physical goal.
The Challenge
At the end of May 2022, I will cycling 100 miles, then walking a marathon distance, 26 miles, in one day.
The 100 miles will follow a route from Worcester to Hereford, then Gloucester and back to Worcester. Covering the Three Counties region that Acorns for the Three Counties hospice in Worcester provide respite care for life limited children.
After the cycle ride, it is a quick change and walking a route around south Worcestershire, covering 26 miles. Waling, not running because my knees will not manage running that distance!
I anticipate it will take around 16 hours in total.
The Reason
My daughter Milla was born in April 2006. She was one of triplets with er sister Jewel and Louisa. They were born 16 weeks prematurely. Jewel sadly passed away after only 17 days. Milla and Louisa battled against the odds and spent 6 months in hospital, numerous operations and setbacks. Milla was diagnosed with severe spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy and was unable to walk or talk and needed 24 hour care. In 2016, while on a family visit to my wife's family in Indonesia, Milla passed away suddenly from a sepsis infection.
Acorns Children's Hospice provided respite care for Milla and were there for us when we returned to provide bereavement support.
Since August 2020 I have been a Parent Carer Champion for Acorns, a role I am proud to hold, to represent a wonderful charity that supports so many life limited children and their families across the West Midlands.
In July 2022, I will be carrying the Queen's Baton as part of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. I was delighted to be nominated and then selected, recognizing my fundraising since 2007, which has raised over £50,000. Thank you to Acorns for nominating me.
I promised Milla I would continue to fundraise in her memory and also in Jewel's memory. I hope to raise as much as possible to help Acorns provide care for other children like Milla, now and in the future.
Please donate whatever you can. Every pound raised makes a difference.
Thank you!
