1000km in one year. 83.3km per month. 19.2km a week. Just 2.7km a day! How hard can that be? Compared to what my closest loved ones have been through, it will be a breeze.
At the beginning of February, my world was turned upside down when my wife Sarah was diagnosed with bowel cancer. After my family history of both my sister and my mum having breast cancer, I'm sure you'll understand why I want to do what I can to raise money to help those who are affected by this disease.
I plan to rack up my 1000km with casual runs as well as partaking in organised events. So far I've signed up for the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon. My aim is also to complete the full Marathon in September. And whatever else comes along throughout the year to help me build those km's!
All donations will be going to our chosen charity Cancer Council NSW, as they are pivotal in Australia for research in all types of cancer, as well as greatly supporting and funding the Northern Cancer Institute where Sarah is receiving treatment.

As many of you may be aware, Sarah passed away on July 14th. This has only increased my desire to raise money for this challenge and do everything I can to help others who have been through what we have suffered this year!
Sarah would have demanded that, just like her, I do not give up, and that I complete this challenge, it is, as it always has been, dedicated to my beautiful wife.
All support is very much appreciated.
Thanks
Dan
