Story
Planning a family is one of the the most amazing things you’ll ever do. Buying a house, that car you always wanted, starting a new job…all of these things matter, but they soon pale into insignificance when contemplating parenthood.
But what if things didn’t go to plan? What would you do? Who would you turn to?
In 2014, there were 18.6 million families in the UK, of which 2.0 million were lone parents with dependent children. Women accounted for 91% of lone parents with dependent children.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go to plan for me and in starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel after nine difficult months, I decided to do something positive in 2017 to increase awareness and raise money for a charity who helped me along the way: Families Need Fathers (FNF).
FNF is a charity chiefly concerned with supporting all parents, dads, mums and grandparents to have personal contact and meaningful relationships with children following parental separation. FNF offer information, advice and support services to help parents to achieve a positive outcome for their children. FNF’s forum and network of over 50 UK Branches also offer the pro-bono guidance of solicitors and others familiar with the operation of the family courts.
10kfor10k aims to raise £10,000 to donate to FNF to help them to continue to provide support to those in need.
