Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.
This page is for Steve Bateman’s and Graham Dore’s 100 Cols tandem cycling Challenge in June 2016.
Described as the toughest bike ride in the world the 100 Cols tour takes in some 100 of the biggest mountain passes in France – legendary passes such as the Tourmalet, Mont Ventoux, the Galibier, the Télégraphe, and Grand Colombier are all included as are the mountain areas of the Bourgogne / Beaujolais, the Massif Central, the Pyrenees, the Cevennes, Provence, the Alps, the Jura and the Vosges. The ride is over 4,000Km long and covers a whopping 67,000 meters of ascent (and descent, since it is a loop and finishes up back where it starts!).
Steve and Graham will be undertaking the challenge unsupported and will be carrying their overnight luggage on the bike with them.
Both riders are long time cyclists and have completed various challenging trips previously, some together on the tandem and some with Steve on the tandem with other ‘pilots’ and Graham on his solo bike. Steve has a deteriorating eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa and has lost most of his sight.
The official website for the 100 Cols ride can be found here: http://www.100cols.nl/engels/index.html
There will be a blog for the trip and the build up to it here: http://100-cols-for-cancer.blogspot.co.uk/
