100 bin bags litter pick

100 bin bags litter pick · 9 May 2021
Like a lot of people these days I'm worried about what plastic pollution is doing to our oceans and other ecosystems; I'm fed up with seeing litter everywhere I go; and I see the connection between the litter I see locally and the plastic in the sea.
So like a lot of people I started picking it up, and I was shocked how much there was to pick up. Plastic bottles, tin cans, sweet wrappers and crisp packets, cigarette ends and boxes, face masks and much more.
So to raise awareness about the problem, and money for The Marine Conservation Society, a charity working to do something about the problem, I'm going to double my efforts and aim to fill 100 bin bags in one year.
The Marine Conservation Society is the UK’s leading charity for the protection of our seas, shores and wildlife. Our seas are under immense pressure: too many fish are being taken out, too much rubbish is being thrown in and too little is being done to protect marine wildlife and fish stocks.
Our UK seas and coasts are amongst the most diverse and beautiful on the planet, playing host to dolphins, sharks, whales and turtles. Over half of the UK’s wildlife resides within our seas and many other species such as seabirds rely on them for their survival.
So please chip in whatever you can, and follow my progress on Facebook @100binbags
Cheers!
