About The Friends of Buckden Towers
Buckden Towers is an ecclesiastical estate owned and run by the Claretian Missionaries. Several of the buildings are Grade 1 Scheduled National Monuments, and the estate has a rich history spanning over 900 years.
Formed in 1977 the “Friends of Buckden Towers” are a non-denominational group which exists to support the owners of Buckden Towers in the care and maintenance of the property, and to promote the profile of The Towers as an interesting place to visit. The “Friends” are constituted as a Registered Charitable Trust, Charity Number 273480.
A Council of Management composed of up to 12 members, who are also trustees, run the Charity. The council raises funds which are used in the provision of grants towards the owners of Buckden Towers in connection with maintenance and conservation of the property. Revenue is raised through membership fees, grants, social activities, providing tours to the public and through specialist public events such as our annual plant sale day.
