Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in memory of our son Frank.
Your donation is directed to the research team of professors who I have personally met and the funds go specifically to support research into paediatric rare type T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (T-ALL).
Frank was diagnosed with T-ALL a day before his 2nd Birthday in January 2019. Our lives changed forever from that day.... Frank was treated for three and a half months after which we were advised that we have to say goodbye to him.... His very aggressive disease did not respond to the treatment and there was nothing else that could be done at this time. As a parent it is the worst thing ever that can happen, knowing that we have no choice in this, knowing that he will go, but when and how, we had to just wait and see... Frank passed away in our arms 24th May 2019.....
Whilst the more common form of B-ALL (B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia) has currently 90-95% chance of survival, there is limited research done into T-ALL and it is our mission to change that. We want to raise awareness and fundraise to support this initiative to give chance to those families and children who face the challenges that we did, but with a very different outcome. There are scientists and research projects in England that have taken off recently and hopefully find the reasons why T-ALL is so difficult to treat. This then leads to not only new treatments but also more tolerable and less toxic ones to be developed. Work like this takes years and years and we want to be that extra arm to support this area. Especially as we have now established such a close contact with the brains who can actually make this happen.
