Story
This page and fundraising effort has the approval and support of Janey Godley.
Since the start of the coronavirus lockdowns, Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland has been issuing daily briefings to the public - which have kept many going by the reassurances and clear guidance offered.
However, although many awaited the FM's briefing - what everyone was really waiting for was the subsequent #JaneyGodlyVoiceover that followed by the much loved and respected comedian Janey Godley.
For those regulars to the voiceovers (and who can't be now) - they will be aware that Frank, the man at the door, plays a big part in Janey's uploads. So as a bit of fun, we decided to start a campaign to get the First Minister to say the words "Frank, get the door".
Not just the Scottish public, but the people around the world really got the fun of the campaign and started to donate in their droves. With hundreds of people raising thousands of pounds all in aid of the STV Appeal.
During these unprecedented times we have become used to daily updates by Scotland's First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon and the UK's Prime Minister, Boris Johnston. However, over the past few weeks the daily update everyone has been waiting for is the #janeygodleyvoiceover released by Scottish comedian Janey Godley.
The appeal raised over £10K for the appeal thanks to the donation from the public and thousands of pounds added to pot by Janey's sale of the FGTD merchandise.
On Friday 16th October 2020, the First Minister and Janey Godley did a sketch on the STV Appeal's Annual Fundraiser on television. Where we all waited with baited breath to see if the FM would say the words...
...and she did...!
So, the fund will remain open - but the cause has slightly changed - because the FM has delivered on what the donors asked her to - all in aid of an amazing cause. So feel free to keep donating just to say thanks to the Firs Minister and Janey Godley for making us smile with the use of four simple words...Frank, get the door.

Examples of the work that the STV Appeal can offer to communities at this time, is the £400,000 the appeal granted to Fareshare so that families unable to make ends meet, could put food on the table during these difficult times. Fareshare is a network of charitable food redistributers who receive good quality surplus food across the industry, which they then distribute to frontline charities and community groups most in need.
The STV Appeal would love to do more at these difficult time - but they need your help and this is where "The Frank Fund" has already kicked in and can continue to do so. As the challenges created by the Coronavirus crisis continue, more children and their families will be pushed deeper into poverty.£25 could provide a week's gas or electricity for families to heat their home; £50 could provide emergency food for a family; £100 could provide essential household items like nappies, food and urgent assistance. So whatever you can do, will help families in Scotland most in need.
