Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Back in January 2000, we lost our beloved Nanna after a long battle against Alzheimer’s disease, aged 76.

Freda Elson was the greatest Mother, Grandmother, sibling and wife that you could wish for and we will never forget her. She was kind, caring and full of love for her family and it truly broke our hearts watching her go through such terrible affliction.

Alzheimer’s really is a cruel disease that completely robs you of the person you care about and love so much. As many of us know it goes well beyond a case of memory loss. Eventually it not only mentally impairs but also physically changes the individual until they are no longer able to look after themselves whatsoever and sadly they eventually no longer even recognise or remember their loved ones.

Over this last year, largely spent in lockdown I started to spend a lot of time reflecting and reminiscing about the years gone by and have been thinking of my Nanna a lot and what we all went through towards the end. I then decided it would be an amazing opportunity (now that live music has resumed) to create a fundraiser with my family in her memory.

Our mission for this page is to not only remember and honour our Nanna but to also raise as much awareness as possible about this terrible disease and to give people an opportunity to donate to this cause, so that further research can be achieved.

My family and I are doing this by putting on a charity gig fundraiser this 4th July (12-4pm) where myself and some special guests will be performing live acoustic music at a fantastic local venue called Edible Ornamentals in Chawston, Bedford.

The music will hopefully bring as many people together on the day as we can and donations in cash will also be welcome as well as donations to this page. We will also be having a cake sale and a raffle. Should be a fun day!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to anyone who is able to support and donate and thank you for reading our story.
