Story
I've been thinking a lot about how to honour Rach and celebrate the beautiful life she lived as well as the sunshine and positivity that she brought. I’ve also been thinking about what I can do to help raise money for the charity that supported and comforted her throughout her illness.
A world without Rachel is one that I don’t want to have to imagine. She was (and will always be) the most beautiful, sparkly, hilarious, strong and selfless girl who “light(s) up my world like nobody else”. Her positivity and love could be felt to the moon and back even in the darkest of times. I’m sure I speak for many people when I say this- We were all so lucky to have had her in our world, as it was made exponentially better by her just being in it.
So, let’s get to it. I’ve decided to take on Hong Kong's Maclehose Trail (100km) as fast as possible during the last weekend of April. This will be as a way to raise money for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation in Rachel’s memory.
100km is but a fraction of the 9,000km that has separated me and Rachel for the last few years. However, hiking such a distance across Hong Kong in just a matter of days in her memory seems only fitting as, let’s face it, it’s a very me thing to do.
I feel so indescribably blessed to have walked through most of my life with Rachel by my side as my best friend and I definitely wouldn't be the person I am today without her. Even from over 9,000 km away, she was always my home and her friendship will always truly be unmatched. I will forever take her with me wherever I go, and will live my life how she would want me to, despite the fact there will forever be a Rachel shaped hole in my heart.
Any donation, big or small will be greatly appreciated
