A

Active (Fundraising Page status)

A Fundraising Page that’s received one or more donation.

 

Appeal

When a charity asks its supporters for donations. Campaign Pages are the most popular JustGiving tool for charity appeals.

B

Bank transfer (payment type)

When someone chooses to donate by transferring money directly from their bank account to the charity’s bank account.

C

Campaign Page

A central, customisable landing page charities can use to get donations and fundraisers. Also JustGiving’s most popular charity fundraising tool. Learn more about Campaign Pages or see an example of a Campaign Page.

 

Charity Profile Page

A charity’s general information page on JustGiving that includes their website, registered charity number, supporters, and ways to give. See an example of a charity profile page.

 

Community fundraising

When charities raise money with help from their community’s effort. This may include asking for donations directly, or encouraging people to ask for donations from their own network of friends and family.

 

Contactless giving

The ability for people to donate to charity using a contactless device or tool, like a mobile phone, contactless card, QR code, or NFC tag. Learn more about contactless giving.

 

Custom codes (reporting)

Tags added to donation data to help charities organise and track where donations come from and where they should go. Learn more about adding custom codes to your fundraising data.

Digital Services

A JustGiving service providing customisable fundraising hubs and standout experiences for supporters, in addition to charity fundraising concept development and analysis. Learn more about Digital Services.

 

Direction donation

When someone chooses to donate directly to a charity (as opposed to raising money for charity).

 

Donation link

A link charities can use to direct supporters straight into their donation flow, bypassing their charity profile page or Campaign Page. Learn more about charity page links.

 

Donor

An individual or organisation who donates money to a charity or cause.

 

Donor data

Information collected about charity donors. This can include their contact details, donation history, preferences, and engagement with the charity.

Email journey

JustGiving’s series of personalised emails designed to help people smash their fundraising goals. JustGiving fundraisers get a combination of 59 emails tailored to their individual timeline, event type, and milestones! Learn more about JustGiving’s email journeys.

 

Event

An event someone can participate in whilst also raising money for charity on JustGiving. This might be a public/mass event including multiple charities like London Marathon, or an event supporting one charity only.

 

Event fundraising

When someone chooses to raise money as part of their participation in an Event.

 

Event ID

A unique identifier assigned to each fundraising Event listed on JustGiving. It helps charities manage and track their events, and is used to link fundraising pages and campaigns to specific events. Learn more about JustGiving Event IDs.

 

Event page

When a charity uses a Campaign Page as their main page for building their community and fundraising in a specific Event.

F

Fitbit

A brand of wearable fitness trackers and smartwatches that help users monitor health and fitness activities. JustGiving’s Fitbit integration allows fundraisers to automatically post their activity straight to their Fundraising Page! Learn more about Fitbit.

 

Fitness fundraising

A method of raising money for a charity or cause by participating in physical activities, such as runs, walks, bike rides, challenges, or fitness-based Events.

 

Fundraiser

Someone who asks for donations on a charity’s behalf. A fundraiser might simply ask their network of friends or family for donations, or do an activity to engage donors and gather financial support for their chosen cause.

 

Fundraising link

A link charities can use to direct supporters straight into their fundraising flow, bypassing their charity profile page or Campaign Page. Learn more about charity page links.

 

Fundraising Page

An online page created by a fundraiser to collect charitable donations for a specific cause or event. With JustGiving Fundraising Pages, fundraisers can share their story, set fundraising goals, track donations, and make personal updates. Learn more about Fundraising Pages or see an example.

Gift Aid

Gift Aid is a UK Government tax relief scheme, allowing charities to reclaim an extra 25% in tax on every eligible donation made by a UK taxpayer. For example, if a donor gives £100 to a charity and is a UK taxpayer, the charity can claim an extra £25, making the total gift worth £125. Learn more about Gift Aid.

 

Giving Checkout

A fully-customisable donation form that allows charities to receive 100% of every donation without any processing fees. Learn more about Giving Checkout.

 

Grow Plan

A JustGiving subscription plan for charities looking to expand their fundraising efforts. It includes additional features like access to donor data, detailed reporting, supporter quick search, customised thank-you messages, and CRM and API integrations.

I

In Memory fundraising

A form of fundraising where donations are made in memory of a loved one. It allows individuals and teams to celebrate and remember people by supporting a cause they cared about. Learn more about In Memory fundraising.

 

Inactive (Fundraising Page status)

A Fundraising Page on JustGiving that’s no longer open for donations. Pages can become inactive after reaching their fundraising goal, after a set date, or if the organiser chooses to close it.

 

Integration

The process of linking or combining different systems, platforms, or applications to work together seamlessly. JustGiving offers a suite of integrations that can help charities make their fundraising and data management faster, more powerful, and more efficient.

Story

The section on a Campaign Page or Fundraising Page where you can share why you’re fundraising and why your cause is important to you. You can also include links, videos, and custom formatting in your Story.

 

Story Enhancer

Strava

Supporter

Any individual who donates, fundraises, or advocates for a charity.

T

Team Page

A JustGiving page type that allows groups of fundraisers to join individual fundraising pages together, contributing to a shared goal while showcasing each member’s progress. Learn more about Team Pages.

 

Totaliser

A feature on JustGiving that displays the total amount of donations raised for a campaign or fundraiser, helping to track progress toward the fundraising goal.
