Around 800,000 Australians experience the unpredictable and often debilitating effect of Epilepsy. The funds raised from this event will be put towards the vital services that Epilepsy Action Australia provides. These services include individual programs, community and professional education, information, referral, consultancy as well as personal development activities such as camps, workshops and weekend programs that help individuals grow through shared experience and peer support.

Finley was one of kind. Known for his quick wit, cheeky laugh, sense of humor and loveable nature, he was adored by his friends and family. He uplifted the energy in any room he walked in to and there was never a dull moment in his presence. He was always up for a chat, a beer or any sort of social gathering or function.

Fin’s life took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with Epilepsy in 2019. The years after his diagnosis were challenging; he saw numerous specialists and tried various medications to help manage his condition. However, even during his struggles, he continued to remain positive and live his life to the fullest. His life began to return to normalcy when it appeared that his most recent medication was working. He became passionate about improving his health and fitness and focusing on his career as a Real Estate agent. He’d just listed a house valued over $2.7 million and had a very promising career in front of him. 

On 15th February 2022, Fin unexpectedly passed away due to Epileptic seizure, leaving a void in the lives of his friends and family.

The Finley Smith Memorial Cup will be held on the 14th January 2023 at Harrup Park Country Club, Mackay.

All funds raised will be donated to Epilepsy Action Australia; who aim to optimise life outcomes for children, adults and families impacted by epilepsy through undertaking research and advocacy, and delivering innovative, high quality service across Australia.
