Story
The 1952 epic wartime “June” should have never had a sequel. A film that celebrated rather than simply telling its story, “June” presented us with The Mother, an ordinary woman who stood tall and proud against The Monster and, with an extraordinary plot twist, actually won.
And that should have been The End.
Unfortunately, the Higher Studio powers decided to surprisingly put together Part II -- a sequel that missed the mark completely, succeeding only in debasing everything its predecessor had so artistically carved into History. The Monster wasn’t gone, just lurking in the shadows, getting angrier, and back with a vengeance. It brings down The Mother, a true heroine.
“June” unfolds the story of The Woman who won every battle in The War, every fight, spat, and scuffle, all of them -- but one. Surviving all seasons and weathering all storms, until finally, two days before her 66th birthday, My Mother gave her last breath. Her long fight was finally over. Having always held the same optimism, sporting the same smile she branded her weapon throughout her challenge.
And largely kept there with the help of the Macmillan people who supported and nurtured her comfort, decency, and positivity down to her very last moments. And this is why I’m doing this.
To commemorate this woman’s extraordinary journey, by turning my promise to her into Part III of the “June” saga. I’m here to raise money for the people who helped her keep standing tall and strong throughout and against all difficulties -- In the process righting many of the wrongs we had to suffer watching 2018’s sequel.
I decided to approach the huge community of film lovers I surround myself with on a daily basis. How about a kind of online festival for film writers, bloggers, critics, video makers, podcasters, to promote their varied, excellent work and offer the chance to donate to this essential cause?
Through site reviews, interviews, advertising on my own site Filmotomy.com, we can publish stories, advocate your own fundraising, promote your work through social media, invites to join our podcast or publish on our site - the options are endless.
There is no minimum donation. Every single penny raised will go to Macmillan Cancer Support directly. None of the donations will fund my own efforts or contribute to any financial gain of the website Filmotomy.com
