Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

A huge thank you for visiting my justgiving page.

As many of you know my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer out of the blue in August 2020 therefore I have diverted all fundraising efforts to prostate cancer uk.

After successfully completing the shortest day challenge on the winter solstice, December  21st 2020 (4 miles every hour for 8 hours) I have found 5 friends stupid enough to join me in my next fundraising challenge on the summer solstice weekend, the 18th - 20th June. Antel, Jez, Nick, Paul & I will be attempting the David Goggins 4 x 4 x 48 challenge.  4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours, starting either midday or 4pm Friday 18th June & finishing 8am or Midday Sunday 20th June.

12  x 4 mile runs .  Friday Midday, 4pm, 8pm,

Saturday  - midnight, 4am, 8am , Midday, 4pm, 8pm

Sunday - midnight, 4am & 8am

That’s almost a double marathon in under 2 days.

With over £6000 raised for Prostate Cancer UK so far our target is to push onto £10000. Any donations or support would be gratefully received. Details of the routes to follow.

The challenge was started by David Goggins, a famous American ultramarathon runner, ultra-distance cyclist, triathlete, motivational speaker, and author.

Born in New York, the 45-year-old was formerly in the US Navy and Air Force and served in the Iraq war and has written a self-help memoir called Can’t Hurt Me.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Poker4prostate1, 2 & 3. Also to those who sponsored me for the shortest day challenge in December.

Thanks  Matt & Joe
