Story
Dear All,
Through an act of sheer madness or perhaps folly I am committed to running the London marathon this year. Why? you may well ask... My competitive nature could have something to do with it…I can hear your gasps of disbelief echoing around the room …. I watched my wife commit to this run last year for the British Orthopaedic Assosciation (and she’s not even an Orthopod!!!!) and that swung it this time round. That and the fact that my hope is to try and generate some interest in Sports and Orthopaedic research and help raise money for it.
2008 is towards the tail end of the Bone and Joint decade and it has made all too little impact on the problems that face us. My focus is on Sports injuries their prevention, a cure and surgical interventions that can return patients and elite athletes back to normal function. I also have a deep interest in osteo- arthritis and other destructive joint diseases of the hip and knee in both early and late intervention for these disorders. We have a number of ongoing outcome studies. Joint Action is The British Orthopaedic association’s research appeal. It helps to fund our studies and many others. I hope that you’ll find the resources to support me and motivate me to get through this ordeal. It will ultimately help Orthopaedic research
