We are Jane and Richard - Brian’s children - but we also happen to be life-long friends of Kismet...

We, along with Dr Kismet Hossain-Ibrahim and Funding Neuro charity are working together to raise £400k to purchase the Insightec Ultrasound device.  

WE NEED YOUR HELP to revolutionize brain cancer treatment using Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) in conjunction with MRI using guided focused ultrasound (gFUS); commonly shortened to MRgFUS.

In simple terms, this treatment works by 

• using ALA (special dye given to the patient) which lights-up the cancer cells, sensitizing them to sound waves,
• the ultrasound then blasts the cells with a focused approach.
• These ultrasound waves create tiny bubbles inside the cancer cells which kills them. 
• The treatment is delivered using the Insightec Ultrasound device. See the 2nd picture in the gallery above - it's just like an MRI machine using a helmet on the patients skull to position the ultrasound waves. 

Let's work together to make this treatment available in the UK. Currently GBM & DIPG patients are travelling to the US to get this exact treatment.... an expensive and risky journey for ill people to take on when they should be able to get the treatment in their own country; England, Scotland, Wales, NI... without the need to consider foreign travel to stay alive. 

Why do we want to help? We lost our father to Glioblastoma (stage 4 brain cancer) in 2021, and we want to ensure all GBM and DIPG patients have a longer prognosis than our father... he died within 5 weeks of dignosis.
