EVIES STORY

After feeling unwell for months & frequent visits to the doctors & hospital with varying symptons- My life completely changed as I was diagnosed with a brain tumour on 10th sept 2013 which was confirmed by Mr Fouyas- surgeon  as an aggresive.grade 4 glioblastoma,
I felt I was in a dream and it wasnt happening to me- but it was and I had surgery on the 25th Sept ,which went really well -3 hours after op I was eating chocolate and drinking lucozade- and  I was home 3 days later.(not bad considering what I had just gone through)
A couple of weeks later we went to the oncology dept -the outcome was 6 weeks Radiotherapy and chemotherapy to run together -  after 2 weeks the chemo was stopped ( both at same time was a bit much for me), but the Radiotherapy went well.
I have just had my 1st month of 6 months chemotherapy and doing ok .
I think the hardest times were the days  in between -being  diagnosed - before the appointment with surgeon- before the day of the operation-before the appointment with the oncologist-  before the radiotherapy mask fitting- before the start of radiotherapy- its the unknown thats difficult to deal with and  made me anxious - not really knowing what to expect.
What also struck me when I was getting my daily radiotherapy was the amount of people who are affected by brain tumours - new faces every week, couldnt believe it.
It would be great if everyone diagnosed with a  brain tumour was given the same  structured support info and were aware from the start  the different challenges  at each stage of the treatment programme as well as being encouraged to use local support groups .everyone should be encouraged to visit  www.brainstrust.org.uk   a charity where they are trying to do all  this and more as well as helping fund relevent research.
I  truly believe in what  the brainstrust charity are doing and trying to achieve -and  as I have a number of friends Brainstorming ideas to raise money in my name- i thought it was a good idea to channel all the money to the same fund and  i would be grateful for any donations you can make to EVIES BRAINSTORMERS FUND -which goes directly to The Brainstrust charity. -thanks  for caring,
 Kind regards Evie
