About Glenburnie Butega School Uganda
Victoria Lukwago had a dream and she realised that the only route out of the devastating poverty she saw all around her was to provide children with education. Many of the children she saw had watched their parents die of malnutrition, malaria or AIDS. The children had no hope and no future. It was a struggle to stay alive.
The Glenburnie Butega School (ETRA Uganda) was built in 1993 and there is now also a nursery school, a farm, a sick bay and a guesthouse. Today there is a primary school and nursery school for 180 children, including about 70 school boarders who have no family to care for them. The project has lifted hundreds of children out of poverty over almost 30 years by giving them an education, a start in life, enabling them to go on to help others to build more dreams for Uganda. And there are many stories from students who have been to the school.
ETRA UK is run by volunteers who live in the city of Bath, UK.
Everyone involved in this work is a volunteer. Apart from minimum administrative costs, all money raised goes to support the children.
You can be part of this! Please consider how you can help in some way by finding out more and giving to this life changing project.
