Story
Our Dad sadly passed away on 14th August 2020 at the age of 73 after a 2 year battle with cancer.
Having played Rugby League in the 1960’s-70’s he started his career at Blackbrook, going on to play professionally for Widnes, St Helens and Leigh, in the hooker position wearing the number 9 jersey.
Rugby League was his passion and having retired from the sport, he loved nothing more than watching his son David play for Orrell St James as their prop forward and supporting the club through kit sponsorships and then watching David when he signed professionally for Warrington Wolves.
He also loved watching the sport from the comfort of his armchair and enjoyed nothing more than the Saints and Wigan Derby and the Challenge Cup Finals.
He was even known to sweet talk the nurses to get him day release from hospital so he could get home to watch his beloved Rugby.
Our Dad would do anything to help anyone and genuinely had a heart of gold. We therefore couldn’t think of a more fitting charity than Rugby League Cares to benefit from any funeral donations people would like to make, as it combines his passion of rugby league with helping those involved in the sport in their time of need.
