Story

Thanks for taking time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 12th June 2015, myself, Jordan Dashti and Steven Willetts will attempt to cycle the length of Great Britain. The quest will start at Lands End, the extreme South-Westward point of Great Britain and we will continue onto John O'Groats, the extreme northern point of Mainland Scotland. This epic Journey will see us travel at least 900 miles across 3 countries on our bikes. There will be no support vehicle throughout the distance, everything we take will be carried either on our bikes or backs.

This challenge is usually completed over about 14 days with a support vehicle for the full duration of the journey. We will attempt this over 10 days looking to ride on average of 90 miles a day with no support from the outset.

From now until June we will be out in all weather conditions preparing and training hard for the gruelling task ahead making sure we are ready for whatever is thrown at us.

We all feel that taking on this extreme challenge will be the best way to raise money for our chosen charities.  Each of us has chosen a charity to champion.

I have also taken on the challenge of running at least a mile a day every day in 2015. As of today, the 9th January 2015, I have currently ran 34.1 miles. I am targeting to reach 1000 miles in total by the end of the year which will include 5ks, 10ks, half marathons and a marathon towards the end of the year.

I have taken on both of the challenges to test my body and mind, pushing myself to my physical and mental limits.

The charity I have chosen to support is:

The Christie Charity, Manchester.

Being diagnosed with Hodgkins Lympoma in 2006, I was treated at The Christie for a total of 7 months; 6 months of intensive chemotherapy followed by a month of radiotherapy. Without the help of all the staff and workers at The Christie, I may not be here today and have the opportunity to take part in these once in a life time events.

Anything you donate, whether it be £1 or £10, will make a massive difference - It will all go towards a great cause and help save and treat many lives of people of all ages. The stats say 1 in 3 of us will get cancer, but we need to fight to improve these figures.
