Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, please dig deep and sponsor me online now!

Donating here is not only simple, fast and totally secure, it is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. And please remember, if you are a UK taxpayer, tick the Gift Aid box. By doing this, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your donation - at no cost to you!

I am running this Half Marathon in support of Amnesty International UK, but specifically for the case of Shi Tao, from the People's Republic of China.

In 2004 the journalist Shi Tao sent an email describing the instructions issued by the Chinese government for media coverage of the 15th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square crackdown. Internet service provider Yahoo! helped the Chinese authorities identify Tao, leading to his arrest and he was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment. Amnesty International considers him to be a prisoner of conscience, imprisoned solely for peacefully exercising his right to freedom of expression - something it is easy to take for granted in the UK!

As many of you know, I broke my leg nearly 18 months ago, so this run will be a huge challenge for me but one I am proud to be undertaking in support of Amnesty International's incredibly important human rights work.

Thank you for your support! Emma
