Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am so excited (but also a little nervous) to be taking part in Zanna Van Dijk’s ‘WILD SNOWDONIA: The 10 Peaks Charity Challenge’ this June. I’ll be hiking with a team of 100 people, covering 15 miles, 10 peaks and over 1400 meters in ascent in a single day on a route based in the remote Carneddau mountain range in Wales.
Together, we’re hiking to raise awareness and money for the Wilderness Foundation. Their work centres around helping young people and adults facing a number of challenges in their lives through adventures in the outdoors, therapy and mentoring.
Some of their projects include: The Blossom Project, which supports domestic violence survivors through outdoor therapy and trauma support; 'Brave Futures', a group therapy programme for those who have experienced grief, trauma, social isolation, anxiety and depression; and 'TurnAround', a 6-month programme for vulnerable young people focusing on building confidence, resilience, teamwork and empowerment. Their programmes spotlight the positive impact of wild nature on personal and social wellbeing, enabling adults and young people to explore wild places in the UK, South Africa and Europe. To reach our collective target of £25,000, each team member is aiming to raise at least £250 ahead of our hike. Any donations are so so appreciated, and will be going to such a worthwhile cause.
It's going to take a fair bit of training and plenty of practice going up and down the hills to achieve 15 miles of mountain walking in one day, so even the smallest donation will help me along the way - it really is an incredible charity doing brilliant work with vulnerable people who benefit so greatly from being immersed in nature.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
