Story
Hi, I am going to attempt a world record! A lung transplant patient climbing almost 6,000m up the largest active volcano in the World, Cotopaxi (in Equador). I have been chosen as part of a team of heart and/or lung transplant patients to do this. We are climbing 5 mountains, the last of which is Cotopaxi. Oh, and I will also be carrying heavy kit on my back. We have completed training in Scotland as you can see in the photos.
I am really doing this in honour of my donor, without whom I would not be alive today. I want to prove what the human body can do and achieve, and also what I can do personally. Bearing in mind that after 18 months in hospital I was on a ventilator to stay alive, and didn't use my legs, this really is going to be a shock to the system.
I have never attempted a challenge for charity, and so would be so grateful for every penny you can donate in helping raise funding and awareness for a new technology “The Organ Care System” which enables the transporting of donor organs and extends the transplantation window from the existing 3 hour limit to 12 hours therefore having the ability to save more lives as well as providing other significant medical benefits.
I want to help others receive this gift of life that I have had, and who would otherwise die waiting/trying to get a transplant.
Anything you can give to help fund and support us on our endeavor will be gratefully received. Thank you for you kindness and support.
