Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for Epilepsy Action and I need your help.
Epilepsy is one of the most common serious neurological conditions in the world and for many people, epilepsy is a life long, life changing condition.
The main treatment for epilepsy is anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) and most people will trial many different forms of medication before finding one or more that works to manage their seizures. Unfortunately AEDs often come with huge number of side effects which bring their own set of challenges, and they don’t always work.
A fantastic person in my life was recently diagnosed with this condition, and I have stood by in useless amazement and watched her learn to manage it, and refuse to let it change the life she leads. It has infuriated me that I can do so little to help her. So I have decided to go on a very long walk to raise funds for Epilepsy Action, who can do more to help everyone living with epilepsy.
From the 1st April, I begin a 6 month, 1,000 mile walk. That is around 1,609km or 2,500,000 steps in 183 days, in order to raise money for Epilepsy Action. I will be building miles into my everyday life for the next 6 months with some small, some large and some extremely large walks. The everyday commute, walks with family and friends, walks alone, walks in the city, country, up hills and along the coast. In the sun, rain and possible other strange weather phenomena, until the 30th September. General everyday meanderings will not count towards the 1,000 mile total, and nor will a stroll to the local shop. Every step I count towards this challenge must be intentional, and every walk must be over a mile.
I invite you to join me for a walk, follow my progress on instagram and please sponsor generously.
