Story

This is my foster sister, Ellie. Around this time of year, Ellie takes part in the children’s race in the Gawcott Mile, a mile-long race to raise funds for Alec’s Angels, a charity that support children in hospices. However, due to recent happenings in the world, this event has been cancelled, and sadly, Alec’s Angels aren’t receiving the funds needed to support children in hospices at this difficult time.

Ellie loves jewellery, so much so that she enjoys making her own. Ellie has Cri-Du-Chat syndrome, and while her friends with the condition are choosing to celebrate Cri-Du-Chat day (5th May) raising awareness in other ways, Ellie has chosen to combine her favourite hobby with her favourite event of the year.

The original plan was to thread enough beads to cover a mile stretch. However this would be absolutely crazy, so she has taken it upon herself that for every meter in a mile (1600m) she will thread one bead. Ellie, being the over-achiever and jewellery-addict that she is, has already threaded over 500 beads, so these goalposts may move! It would mean a lot to Ellie, and to Alec’s Angels, if you were to support her in this process by sharing this and sponsoring her with this challenge.
