Story
3 years ago Noel was diagnosed with a condition called EAA pulmonary fibrosis AKA Hypersensitivity pneumonitis a condition I had never heard of before and when I told people about it, they hadn't either.
This condition would result in irreversible scarring of his lungs restricting his air supply with his only option being a double lung transplant. Over the last few years, Noel went through numerous tests to try and find out what the cause of his condition was - but he never found out. He had never smoked, never worked with birds (which is sometimes a cause) there was no cause, and no cure - the sad thing was he was just unlucky, this condition can happen to anyone and more people need to know about it.
On the 13th of June while waiting for his life-saving pair of lungs, he passed away. His wings came before his lungs. He didn't want to go, he fought a fight everyone was amazed of, he was the bravest man I have ever and will ever know, he never moaned or complained he got on with it and said 'I'm lovely, it is what it is' even when he was feeling his worst.
He was the best dad, son, husband, step dad, uncle, brother, grandad anyone could have wished for and we were so lucky to have him.
Not only do we want to raise money for Pulmonary Fibrosis we want to raise as much awareness as possible for this and the importance of organ donation, if the call had come sooner he might still be here making us all laugh today.
So we, (Ellie, Adam, Mike, Kiri, Sophie (Sofa), Hannah (Hanga) and Dan) will be running tough mudder for him on the 23rd of September because it more than likely would have made him cry with laughter.
No one should have to go through what he went through and hopefully one day there will be a cure.
Love
