Story
The Sugar Soirée brings CHI (Congenital Hyperinsulinism International) supporters together to celebrate the strength of the community and to raise funds to improve the lives of children and adults born with congenital hyperinsulinism (HI) and their families.CHI is a global lifeline to those born with (HI). CHI supports research for better treatments and cures and is the foremost advocate for increased awareness and better medical protocols for HI to reduce preventable brain damage and death from prolonged hypoglycemia.
For the 2020 Sugar Soirée, my friends and I on the Junior Committee are teaming up to raise $5,000 to support CHI Benevolence Programs.
As HI is so rare, only a handful of hospitals around the world have expert knowledge of the condition and are able to provide specialized, quality care to children with HI. This often means that families have to travel long distances and stay far from their homes in order to make sure their child receives the best care possible.
Through the CHI Benevolence Programs, CHI helps hospitals cover the costs of travel and expenses for the family when they must relocate to one of these centers for their child’s specialized care.
