Story
This year for my birthday I am asking for donations to Eating Matters, a Norwich-based eating disorder charity who helped me a lot during the first national lockdown and in preparation for moving away to uni. I hope that if you are able to you will consider contributing as a way of celebrating my birthday with me, assisting the charity to support others and in helping me to say thank you to them. I would be incredibly grateful as every donation will bring me a little bit closer to reaching my goal. I've included some information on Eating Matters below:
Norfolk Eating Disorders Association was established in 1979 and became a registered charity in 1991. We relaunched as Eating Matters in 2012. We currently have a team of 19 counsellors and therapists and a three-person admin and management team. We also have a number of trainee counsellors and volunteers. Norwich is our base, but we also have counsellors working in West Norfolk, North Norfolk and the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area.
The charity rely solely on client donations and provide one-to-one counselling for people with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder and OSFED (Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder) to support them in taking control of and overcoming their eating disorder in the local area.
Some feedback from other individuals who have used their service include:
“I have found the service very helpful, it has given me the ability to take back self-control and has had a positive influence on the decisions that I make.”
“Eating Matters is a safe house for me. A place where my independence is encouraged and my privacy respected. Whilst the staff are always available to help and listen, they are also discreet and non-judgemental.”
“I found Eating Matters online and they were immediately able to meet me and guide me on how to encourage my teenager to attend meetings with a counsellor who was carefully matched to work with her. She is now at university!”
Thank you very much,
Hannah x :)
