Story
Livability is a disability charity that connects people with their communities. Livability Holton Lee is part of the Livability family of services, located in Dorset. Here they run the "Flourish" programme, a range of horticultural and outdoor activities that help people to build relationships, connect with the land, gain a sense of achievement, boost self-esteem and confidence and learn new skills.
The coronavirus has hit Livability Holton Lee hard, forcing them to close the Flourish horticultural therapy project and redirect resources to supporting vulnerable participants to stay connected with others through Zoom and other means.
People with disabilities are often the most socially isolated in our community and being lonely can be bad for your health - equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
Fortunately, their Flourish programme reopened last month, but a lot of the fundraising, sales and activities that were going on before lockdown were put on hold, creating a shortfall in resources.
We ask that you donate generously to support Livability's Holton Lee facility and the vulnerable people who rely on their services.
