MY BAMPIE DOUG

I always will remember my Grandfather as a loving, energetic, funny and generous man. But he was no longer here due to the terrible ailment he suffered. No longer could I listen to his stories of the War, in which he forght so bravely. No longer could I listen to his jokes, which seem funnier now than they ever did. I could not play football with him in the garden, pretending he scored when he quite clearly missed. It left only a feeling of regret and a wish that I had made the most of every seccond I spent in the presence of this amazing man. Only now, that he is truly gone, do I realize how much I will miss my Grandfather. It is not just my loss of a loving Bampi. It is not just my Dad's loss of an amazing Father. The loss is the world's, of a wonderful human being.

Joshua Clarke

My Bampy Doug was a great and humble man. Always funny, always caring, always with a smile on his face. Never once did he fail to create a happy atmosphere, and never did he fail to make the best out of situations. At every oppurtunity he could he would persistently ask me if I was still playing football, which in honesty, slightly annoyed me at the time. But now, all I want is for him to ask me that question again, something that I will always be deprived of. I can't put in words how much I love and miss my amazing Grandfather, and I don't think I ever will be able to.
