I will be running in the London Marathon on 13 April 2014 and would very much appreciate your support by donating whatever you can to Garden Organic.

I would like to raise money to help Garden Organic increase their capacity to educate people about organic food growing by improving the quality of the educational facilities at Ryton Gardens (Garden Organic’s headquarters and demonstration gardens in Warwickshire).  Organic gardening offers great benefits for human health and wellbeing, the environment, food security and building stronger communities.

To improve the educational visitor experience, a new indoor education and resource centre will be established, along with a library for visitors to use and space for schools to use as a classroom and a lunch area. There will be enhanced indoor resources to develop learning about all aspects of organic growing and allow time to be used more effectively when the weather is poor.  Parts of the ten acre gardens will be redesigned to create a more interactive and educational experience that showcases the latest organic gardening ideas and techniques. Beneficiaries will include all who visit Ryton to learn about organic gardening, but in particular schoolchildren and young people with special needs. Food growing is a great tool to engage those disengaged by traditional education. It is practical, physical, takes place outdoors and leads to visible end results.
