Covid19 Funds for Desert Voicebox, 9 September 2020
We're fundraising in response to local demand to expand the benefits of our pioneering after school DV programme, providing unique chances for children to gain English language, music and life skills to become cultural ambassadors for their cause.

Story

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and consequent shut-down of schools, the Saharawi refugee children have been out of school since March. Given the poor connectivity and access to computers and the Internet in the camps, online training has not really been an option for them either. Now that September has come these children will finally be allowed to go back to studying, including their Desert Voicebox music and English lessons. However, with the new normality comes a new reality and wearing masks and using hydroalcoholic gel in every classroom has become a requirement of the Saharawi Ministry of Education.

In order to comply with regulations and make sure our students are safe, at Desert Voicebox we are raising ADDITIONAL EMERGENCY FUNDS to buy all the necessary health protection materials so we can start teaching as soon as possible.

You can help us by clicking donate and/or sharing this campaign as widely as you can. THANK YOU!

What is Desert Voicebox?

We believe in the right of every child to dream and have the chance to fulfil their aspirations. Through Desert Voicebox, we seek to provide unique opportunities for Saharawi refugee children to learn, develop their potential and use their voices to express themselves in new ways. We aim to equip them with the tools that can help them to turn their dreams into reality and become ambassadors for their community to raise awareness of their plight and threatened cultural heritage.
