Story

Completed the Great North Run in 1hr 57 mins. Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me over the past 12 months. Didn't reach my target, but still 2 weeks left on my just giving site if you wish to sponsor me. Thanks again for all your suport.

Completed the Leeds 10k run in 54 mins.

A big thankyou to the Committee, Association and the residents of the Winthorpe residents Association for the kind donation from the Jubilee day that you have made to my just giving fundraising site.

Completed the Yorkshire three peaks on Saturday 26th May with 9 people from work.  It was a very hot day and really hard work.  Please do carry on sponsoring me, I still have some way to go for my target .

Completed the London Marathon in 4hrs 22 minutes and 5 seconds.  Had a great day and would recommend anyone to have a go.  The next challenge is the Yorkshire three peaks in May so please do carry on sponsoring me, I still have some way to go for my target .

Completed the Wakefield 10k in 48 minutes.

Done a lot of training over the winter months etc for the London marathon, getting up at 4am for a run before work.  Starting to get a bit nervous now with only 5 days to go, but hopefully will do it on the day.  Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me so far, but still a long way to go for my target.  If you can sponsor me please do, no matter how little as every penny counts.  Going down to London on Thursday (19th), so I am really looking forward to it.

Thank you for visiting my fund raising page.  I am organizing and competing in various fund raising events over the next 12 months, from October 2011 (with competing in the London Marathon in April 2012), and hopefully ending with the Great North Run in September 2012.  I aim to raise much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer support charity as I think the Macmillan nurses do a tremendous job in the support they give to the patient, family and friends.

Like many people, during the years I have known quite a few relatives and friends who have been diagnosed with some form of cancer, some sadly have died.  People need help / advice and support by people who understand what illness they have and what they are going through, because at the end of the day, you don’t know what the final outcome is going to be.  A few years ago my boss sadly lost her husband to cancer after only been diagnosed with it for 5 months, she told me what a great help Macmillan was to her and her husband in helping them come to terms with what was happening, also with the support they gave her personally during his illness and sadly after he died.

My own mother sadly died of cancer at the young age of 36 when I was just 5 years old, leaving 4 very young sons.  Even though I was very young, I do remember how it affected me personally and us as a family in the upset at the time, and all of us been separated and sent to different relatives to live.  Looking back now, maybe wishing someone was there just to talk to us about what was happening, what was going to happen in the future, helping us all understand and come to terms in how we were going to live the rest of our lives without our Mother?

Please can you sponsor me, it does not matter how little, as every penny counts or donate something to be Auctioned or Raffled.

Cancer is the toughest fight most people will ever face.  This year, your support will help to ensure that there is a dedicated team to support people affected by cancer every step of the way.  Macmillan is really grateful for your support.
