Story
It is with extreme sadness we have to tell you that at the beginning of the year David passed away. As David would have wanted, we will be completing the challenge in his memory. We are inviting friends, family and anyone who shared David's passion for fundraising to help us out by taking on what they can of the challenge. It would be great if you could let us know prior to taking on a section of your choice by sending an email to us at dmchallenge65@hotmail.com. Just to give an example, you could do a peak (over 600m) which would then take the total to 64 left to complete. By letting us know, we can keep the facebook page up to date with where we are at. Where possible we ask that you recruit sponsors and direct them to this page. Thank you for taking the time to read this, The Morby Family.
Each year my wife Ali and I set a range of challenges, around 6 in total, all physical and where possible linking to the numbers within the year e.g. 2019 Kms of running, 20 races, 19 events etc. The challenges run for one year starting on the 1st January, the day after my birthday, the 31st December.
This year as it happens to be my 65th birthday I am adding four more challenges to the list, all of which will relate to the number 65. These four will be spread across the year and will be in addition to my normal suite of events. To add some purpose to my efforts I intend to try and raise money through sponsorship. This can be done through “Just Giving” or to me direct. The charity I’m supporting is “Combat Stress” www.combatstress.org.uk an organisation which helps Service People both serving and veterans who are suffering from mental health conditions.
My events are:
· 1 X 65 km endurance run
· Reach 65 individual peaks over 600 meters in height
· 65,000 steps on the internal step machine (approx. twice the height of Everest)
· Complete the Tour Du Mont Blanc (estimated time 65 hours)
I hope you will please sponsor me and share this far and wide. I will be keeping a blog via my Facebook page (David Morby Challenge 65 - 2020) for you to follow through the year.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
