Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
In May 2009 I will be delving into the depths of the Grand Canyon to complete a 9 day trek and raise money for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children. My motivation to get behind the trek stems from my own upbringing and the value I place on family. Coming from a family of fourteen and having two children of my own, makes me feel compelled to help after hearing NICFC’s appeal for volunteers to take on this challenging trek.
I have in the past given generously to charities. . Now I feel that I am at a stage in my life where I have more time to dedicate myself to help others and this is why I have taken the opportunity to challenge myself and help children in Northern Ireland living with cancer.
My participation will help fund a range of services. A holiday and respite care for families at Shimna Valley Holiday home located in Newcaslte, Co Down. A range of specialised youth programmes held at the charity’s Log Cabin, Narnia, also located in Newcastle. This will continue to provide a ‘haven’ for families across NI living with a childhood cancer diagnosis.
Please help me to fund NICFC services which I know are a lifeline to the many families who use them.
Thank You.
David Bowes.
