About Dartmoor Livestock Protection Society
The Dartmoor Livestock Protection Society (DLPS) was formed after the severe winter of 1962-63 to help ponies, sheep and cattle in distress on Dartmoor and to campaign to raise standards of animal care.
The Livestock Protection Officer responds to calls from the public about sick or injured animals, casualties of road traffic accidents and sheep attacked by dogs. Callers are required to give information about the animal's location and identification marks. We may ask for a vet to attend as well.
Payment for initial veterinary aid for road injured moorland stock is guaranteed by DLPS.
