Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm quite enjoying life on earth. However, over the time I've been on it the future seems to be getting bleaker. In recent years it's hard to deny the effect climate change has had on the planet, though some people still try.
A big part of my life is taken up by a love for wild life and the wilderness around us. I can't imagine my kids growing up in a world where all the wonder and beauty I love is gone.
It's because of the current climate crisis that I want to try and make a little difference. As well as trying to raise some money for Rainforest Alliance I'm also going to try to make a difference in my local community.
Everyday in January I ran along the river near my home. Everyday I noticed new plastics and wrappers littered along the side. The river I run along is around 20km from the Mediterranean. The mouth empties right next to Barcelona. While there are amazing projects cleaning up the oceans it seems kind of pointless when people are still dropping plastics along a river.
By picking up litter I want to make a difference in peoples perception that there are actionable things every single one of us can do. It doesn't have to be hard. You don't have to give up everything you love. It could just start small, picking up the plastic and popping it in the recycling instead of leaving it for somebody else. Climate change isn't somebody else's problem it's a problem for every single one of us. At the end of the day we're all affected by pollution. We should all make a difference.
Rainforest Alliance works on many fronts to fight climate change. They help protect rain forests, look for sustainable farming methods, protect endangered wildlife, fight climate change, and help people suffering most from the effects of our changing climate. They do all that by looking for ways in which people and nature thrive in harmony and I think that's something we should all strive for
