Dales 30 Unsupported · 25 July 2022

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.

Story

Thank you for visiting our Just Giving page, Chris and I are attempting this massive challenge to raise money for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope. Manorlands is a spectacular place which looks after terminally ill patients. It is very special and has a place in many peoples' hearts after providing expert care for family members in the last weeks of their lives after battling cancer.

The staff are amazing! Raising money for Manorlands will be a pleasure.

This hospice relies heavily on fundraising and, due to recent covid restrictions stopping many events, every bit of help is crucial. One local hospice has already had to close so we wanted to do this to make sure we don't lose something that has been so crucial to many of our friends' & families' lives.

The Challenge

On the 25th July 2022 Dave Town & Chris Procter will attempt the Yorkshire Dales 30 Mountains "unsupported" challenge, a route of 209km with 8608m of ascent, a route not yet completed "unsupported". "Unsupported" means you truly have no external support of any kind. This means you carry everything you need from start to finish except water from natural sources.

This challenge will take us around 5 days to complete if we can hike 41.8km (26miles) per day with a rucksack weighing in at approximately 20kg.

Starting from Pen-y-Ghent cafe in Horton in Ribblesdale, we will return to this point having summited the 30 mountains in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
