We are moving further, faster to help everyone affected by a brain tumour

Story

Mum of 2 Sam from Weston-super-Mare has Cancer. A Tumour on her Brain. We are supporting Sam and the family wish to support The Brain Tumour Charity by raising awareness and fundraising with a Challenge to Cycle the length of Britain, 1,000 miles, also known as the JoGLE......This is Sam's story.

Please Help Young Mum Sam in her Challenge

On 29th January 2014, a normal day, Sam was at home with her 2 year old daughter and her 7 year old son. Sam awoke surrounded by paramedics and police. With no notice Sam had fallen unconscious in the home hallway and thankfully her son had found the phone and called 999.

A few hours later, having had a CT scan, they found that Sam had a brain tumour. Sam's husband and family raced to the hospital. A week later, Sam had major surgery, a brain operation. Sam is a great believer of positive thinking but sadly 6 days later she was told the tumour was not benign.

For Sam and her family this was devastating news. Aged just 41, Sam feels so young, so much to live for. Having 2 young children that Sam and her husband moved heaven and earth to receive through IVF treatment, the situation seems so cruel, the children are Sam's world. Sam and the family felt heartbroken and so started radiotherapy in March followed by a course of chemotherapy. Unfortunately this wasn't successful and Sam is now on a different Chemotherapy treatment. Sam say's she will fight this with every molecule in her body. She takes everything one day at a time. Sam still laughs, cries and still tells her children off if they are naughty, she still cycles everyday on her bike, and enjoys running to the beach - Sam said "the cancer can take away her driving license but it can't take away her independence."

Since being diagnosed with a Cancerous Brain Tumour Sam now knows but still doesn't understand why but less than 1% of all Cancer Research Government money is given to Brain Cancer, although as many as 16,000 people are diagnosed every year. As a result, the survival rate is still the worst. The Charity and research say a cure is within reach but it just takes the funding and will take time to get there.  For Sam, her husband, her children, extended family and friends, something good has to come out of this situation, which is why Sam wants YOU to make a difference, help raise awareness, help fundraise and sponsor anything you can to help, if not for Sam in her situation, then for the future of others.

Sam has her Challenge ahead, yet she is still planning a 10 mile sponsored walk and helping to organize a 1,000 mile Cycle of Britain on behalf of the Brain Tumour Charity that will be taking place in May 2015.

Please share Sam's story, sponsorship takes just a few minutes, yet sponsoring can make a huge difference to Brain Tumour research and support, in helping Sam with her Challenge and to make a difference.
