In Tower Hamlets, 1 in 2 children are currently living in poverty. With levels of inequality rapidly rising in the borough, Toynbee Hall has become central to the community providing vulnerable people from all ages and backgrounds free support and advice. Toynbee Hall works within the community helping people build a better future for themselves and their families.
Toynbee Hall works with people, both young and older, helping them to combat issues such as social isolation and marginalisation. Toynbee Hall empowers its community giving everybody a voice and a chance to express themselves.
Toynbee Hall’s Free Legal Advice Centre is the oldest and longest running in the world, providing thousands of disadvantaged people access justice every year. Over 20,000 people have benefitted from Toynbee Hall’s debt and financial advice giving them the confidence to effectively manage their own finances, and in the last year, Toynbee Hall has helped over 300 isolated migrant women develop their English language skills giving them autonomy and equipping them with essential skills when seeking employment.
Toynbee Hall has been the go-to place for vulnerable people in the community for over 130 years, and as they embark on a redevelopment of the Grade II listed building, it is imperative they receive the support they need to help their community.
