Story

A flying start to the new school year!

Hammersmith Bridge is now closed, even for pedestrians. This is causing absolute chaos and disruption for everyone who needs to cross the river to get to Barnes or Hammersmith.

Once (if?) the schools reopen, hundreds of school children will have to go via Putney or Chiswick bridge to go to school. With public transport being at restricted passenger capacity and because of Covid 19 fears, many parents will use private cars to get them to school.

The traffic jams this will produce will be horrific and impact a lot of people.

I am proposing to build a temporary zipline structure to help alleviate this problem.

Especially for school children, this will make the school run the most EXCITING TRIP EVER!!!

To make this happen, I have contacted one of the leading zipline construction companies, who have installed safe ziplines in many places (even on cruise ships!). Their website is here if you want to check it out:

https://www.adrenalineconstructions.com/bmw-urban-zip-line/

They can build a similar structure in a relatively short space of time. Just for information's sake, I have no links to this company and chose them based on their experience with similar projects.

I want to commission a detailed technical report from this company, including costings and a timeline to buid a zipline accross the river. This report will then be used to convince the councils at Hammersmith & Fulham and Richmond and TfL to fund the actual project.

All the money raised for this will go directly to the company and I will organise this for free. If anyone would like to help out with this, please contact me directly.

Let's make this happen, it will be the most exiting thing that materialised in Barnes since Gary Lineker!

PS: maybe we even get this dude to give it a whirl (is he still around?)....
