Asalaam waalaikum everyone,

My name is Zainab and I have started this funding page for the people of my country, Yemen. Yemen is currently suffering from a famine which has killed almost 100,000 men, women and children, and this figure will continue to increase if the people are not provided with food, medicine and other essential aid. As well as this, 14 million people are affected by the famine and are on the brink of starvation. As a Yemeni myself, this cause has a very special place in my heart. This may seem like a large sum of money, but as you may know, Yemen also suffers from inflation, so basic necessities are extremely expensive. As well as this, it is very difficult to find a charity willing to go to Yemen and provide hands on support for the people there. My mother’s side of my family and my older brother lives in Yemen and are able to help purchase goods for those who need it. This is a non-profit cause, so all money will go directly to those who need it and will be used to purchase food for those suffering during the famine.

Recently, within the last couple of months, Aden and Sana’a have been hit with heavy rainfall and are now experiencing flooding, which has ruined homes, shops, cars and homes. This is just another reason to help Yemen. I contemplated starting this fundraiser in Ramadan but Yemen is in desperate need of aid throughout the year!
