Story
Asalamu Alaykum,
I hope you‘re all reading this in the best of health.
A few days ago I received devastating news that My first cousin Khadar who lives back home (Burco, Somaliland) fled the country in search of a better life and education in Europe to what turned out to be a hostage/slave trade camp in Libya where he is beaten and tortured every single day until my family pay the ransom money of $14,000. His mother is extremely distressed with losing her husband earlier this year and looking after 4 other children including a new born all on her own.
I am making this fundraiser so that my cousin can be bought back home to safety, to his family. We aren’t even guaranteed that the men holding him will allow him to be free as they may sell him onto other smugglers or even kill him which they threaten to do if we do not come up with the money as soon as possible. They are refusing for us to see pictures or videos of him until they get the money, so every day is a waiting game.
The situation with slaves and hostages being held for ransom in Libya is real and I didn’t think it would take for one of my own family members to realise the severity of what so many others are going through. So far my family have done everything they can to put together $6000 but this still doesn’t cover the cost of the remaining ransom. Please donate what you can generously, make Du’aa and let’s bring Khadar home!!!
Allah says in the Qur’an “whoever saves a life, it will be as if they saved all of humanity” [5:32]
