On the ITS BACK...THE ANNUAL MUM'S SPONSORED 10Â MILE WALK!!!!!!!!!!!Â
On 14th Oct the Under 14's Rugby Mums are coming together to complete a sponsored 10 mile walk, throughout York. All proceeds raised will go towards the development of York Acorn Under 14's Rugby Team.
Your support last year contributed to the boys Playing Kit, a matching pair of rugby boots for each player, it also enabled the Coach to provide each player with a contribution towards the annual Leeds Rhinos Challenge held in Skegness. What a success.......the boys won their table and they were awarded the Fair Play Award throughout the whole of the Under 13’s; bringing back silverware to their club.
As a team, each year we look for sponsors and/or fundraising opportunities. We are a self funded team and each year it becomes more difficult to secure sponsorship (we have contacted over 500 local companies). The boys are growing constantly, so the costs increase (particularly as most are now in small men's)!!. As a team (parents too), we also complete sponsored events throughout the year, to raise funds for the team. It’s important for us as a team to make sure the children feel equal, as one! The boys & their dads have just completed the Krypton Factor Course.... this was hilarious!
As you know we are a self-funded team.... It is up to the boys, their coaches and their families to continuously raise funds to purchase new sports wear (and they are growing fast) their playing kit, boots, scum caps, purchase new training equipment, fund trips for team bonding / to enhance team morale and to ensure that the whole team are able to attend tournaments, such as the Leeds Rhinos Challenge in Skegness.
Their hard work, determination and wiliness to succeed, is amazing. They don't give up, they encourage each other on and off the pitch. They accept each other and welcome others with open arms; their bond is fantastic. They are flourishing and growing...... lets keep them interested in sport & off the streets!
