STOP PRESS! OUR YETMINSTER COMMUNITY WITH THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES HAVE SO FAR RAISED WELL OVER £6,000! SO WE HAVE FAR EXCEEDED OUR £5,000 TARGET. A HUGE THANK YOU TO ONE AND ALL. WITH YOUR AMAZING HELP WE HAVE RAISED ENOUGH TO PAY THE DEPOSIT, AND WORK TO START IN THE NEW YEAR. A HUGE, HEARTFELT THANK YOU FROM US ALL!
The Friends of St Andrew's are helping to restore our famously rare and historic Tower Clock, and asking the whole Community of Yetminster and friends beyond, for help with the costs of restoring our Clock at St Andrew's Church, Yetminster in Dorset. We very much hope to have the clock carillon ringing out the National Anthem for the Coronation of King Charles III next year!
The Clock carillon plays the National Anthem at 3-hourly intervals. This dates from 1897 when it was installed by local benefactors for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, and is very rare, and possibly unique. For the Platinum Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II, the carillon was operated manually to ring out as part of our Jubilee Celebrations.
However, for us in Yetminster, the Clock is also a much loved and familiar part of our lives, and the sound of the bells ringing out over our houses and the fields beyond, has been greatly missed since it fell silent a year ago.
All enquiries about the clock and fundraising should be made to the Churchwarden on churchwarden.yet@gmail.com.

Many thanks to Smith of Derby for holding their estimate open for the restoration work for the past 14 months.

My maternal grandfather, Thomas Meaden, was choirmaster in St. Andrews church in the 1930s. He is buried in the churchyard with my grandmother. I was confirmed in the same church in October,1951.
