I've raised £500 to donate to Wythenshawe Hospital Intensive Care Unit

My dad suffered an unexpected, severe heart attack on 1st April leading to a cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated and transferred to Wythenshawe Hospital Intensive Care Unit for ongoing management. He remained in a coma for 2 weeks. Tragically he had sustained irreversible brain injury from the period of no oxygen and we withdrew life support on 15th April. Dad then continued to be a hero and donated his organs.
He was aged 60, fighting fit with no medical history. He didn't take any regular medications and never smoked etc. He was an avid member of a local running group and enjoyed daily HIIT sessions . He could even plank for 12 minutes :)
The medical and nursing care my dad received during his 15 day stay in the Intensive Care Unit was absolutely fabulous. The staff treated my dad with compassion, kindness and dignity. They went above and beyond in every way. They communicated with us clearly and we were provided with constant updates. They cared for my dad as though he was a member of their family.
COVID has added immeasurable pressure to an already understaffed and underfunded NHS, yet despite this, his care never suffered.
The Lysycia family can't thank the ICU staff enough and we would like to raise money for this incredible unit, in the hope they can continue to make a huge impact on other families' lives.
